So weird, right? I just happened to have the screen door open this morning when I heard a strange "whoosh...[long pause]...whoosh" noise outside. I thought maybe one of our neighbors was playing with a blow torch or something. (no, wait, that would be our old neighborhood.) And then a few minutes later, this gigantic hot air balloon comes out of nowhere and is just cruising along the street behind us. It was so close I could hear the conversation between the balloon's inhabitants.
The ironic thing about all of this is two nights ago, I had this terrible nightmare about cars falling into the earth from the sky - giant, crashing, burning, tumbling cars. (I'm going to thank "One Second After" for that lovely dream). And I'll be honest, when I first saw the giant balloon just feet above the neighbor's house, that was my first thought - "Oh God, it's falling from the sky! It's going to hit our house!" And then I realized it was just floating along (semi) quietly, most likely going to land in the open field just west of us.
So instead of calling 911, I grabbed my camera and took some pictures. And the people in the balloon saw me and waved.
Just another Monday morning, I guess.
